Journal History

Ascarya: Journal of Islamic Science, Culture and Social Studies is a multidisciplinary academic journal published by the Perkumpulan Alumni dan Santri Mahyajatul Qurro' organization. The journal is aligned with the association's goals and vision-mission in research and education, and it represents one of their activities alongside education, empowerment, and community service.

Ascarya: Journal of Islamic Science, Culture and Social Studies was first published on January 19, 2021, with an Electronic ISSN (E-ISSN)  2775-4243, and subsequently received a Print ISSN (P-ISSN)  2798-5083 on July 10, 2021. The journal obtained these ISSN numbers through the Indonesian Institute of Sciences Center for Scientific Data and Documentation. This official recognition enhances the journal's credibility and facilitates proper identification. The journal is published biannually, with issues released in January and July.

In its initial publication, Volume 1, Issue 1 of 2021, the journal featured articles covering two main scopes: Islamic Science and Social Studies. However, these articles were not categorized further. Starting from Volume 1, Issue 2 of 2021, the journal expanded its coverage to three main scopes as mentioned earlier, and aimed to classify articles into specific categories. The journal maintained the Indonesian language for the manuscript content, while the title and abstract were presented in English.

On July 1, 2021, Ascarya: Journal of Islamic Science, Culture and Social Studies registered its articles with Crossref and obtained Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) for each publication. This registration enhances the discoverability and accessibility of the journal's articles.

Ascarya: Journal of Islamic Science, Culture, and Social Studies has actively sought collaboration and networking opportunities. It has established partnerships with two research institutions, namely the Indonesian Education Research Center and the Academic Research Society Malaysia.

Starting from Volume 2, Issue 1 of 2022, the journal began using the category mechanisms available in the Open Journal System feature. This categorization system allows for a more organized presentation of articles, aligning with the journal's aims and scope. Additionally, the language policy of the journal evolved over time. In Volume 2, Issue 1 of 2022, and subsequent volumes, the journal committed to publishing articles in two languages: 30% in English and 70% in Indonesian. The proportion of English articles will gradually increase until reaching 100% in the future. To improve the language quality of the published articles, Ascarya: Journal of Islamic Science, Culture and Social Studies collaborated with American Journal Experts.

Update in Author Guidelines and Template: Starting with Volume 4, No. 1 in 2024, Ascarya: Journal of Islamic Science, Culture and Social Studies has updated its Author Guidelines and Template. This update aims to align the journal with international standards and accommodate the rapid advancements in AI. These changes reflect our commitment to maintaining high-quality scholarly communication and embracing technological progress in academic publishing.
